AZIKIWE UPDATE

Azikiwe Lutufyo has been in our prayers for some time now. Azikiwe is a powerful preacher of the gospel and a tender and loving Pastor. He has faithfully led the work of Strategic Impact in Tanzania since 2014. This is the nation with our most mature multiplication network.
Many years ago, he had a botched surgery to remove cancer from his knee. The outcome of this eventually resulted in his leg being fused - not convenient for a man who is 6'2" living in a nation with no American Disabilities Act... but tolerable. However, around 2018, pain followed by X-Rays revealed that the bracing inside his leg holding the fusing together had deteriorated and begun to break. The best physical solution was eventually declared to be an amputation and prosthetic.
In February 2020, by God's grace and the generosity of friends in the United States, we were able to raise $10,000 to cover the cost of this much needed operation. Then COVID... Then Azikiwe's blood sugar and blood pressure became elevated (it is finally close to being controlled)... Then a concern that the cancer had returned to his knee area (it wasn't)... Finally, on May 28, an appointment with the hospital was scheduled to get everything checked out one more time so scheduling of the the surgery could move forward. I just received word this morning about the results of that appointment.
The doctors now have concerns about Azikiwe's heart. The message I received was "when he went to the hospital they discovered the possibility of heart failure so he was given some medicine to control the situation then he will go back to the hospital for review. Please commit him in your prayers." Getting medical specifics from Africa is a very frustrating exercise. As I irritatingly reflected on this fact this morning, God made it clear that I really did not need to have the official prognosis... what I really needed was to have faith and to trust in the Lord.
Please join with myself and our team members across Africa to lift Azikiwe up in prayer. Pray for Azikiwe and his family that faith would overpower fear - and for healing, whether that comes through the means of medicine or through the means of divine touch. Both are from the hand of God, as, "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change." - James 1:17

Tonight we kick off the "Making A Difference Forum" through ZOOM. It will run for the next 5 Tuesdays from 7:00 PM - 8:15 PM Central. This is a FREE online forum provided by Strategic Impact focused on the basic principles of sharing your faith - sharing your story, the essentials of the gospel, the essentials of discipleship, etc. along with how to use some basic evangelism / discipleship / multiplication tools that we use throughout Latin America, Africa, and Asia.
There will also be time allotted to interact with the team, as well as the other participants to ask questions, share ideas, and discuss the principles presented.
