FAMILY UPDATE
Greetings from the McCartys!
What an odd season of life I find myself in! I went into the hospital in February anticipating waiting for a heart transplant with all its coming limitations, but received a LVAD and a different set of limitations! So in this update, I will start with a “health checkup” for you.
I have been home now for about 6 weeks. It is a major adjustment with morning and evening tasks to maintain health. Tracy is a saint — always helping without complaint! We had good news last week, as my latest Heart Cath showed that the right side of my heart has begun to get with the program and play nice. My internal pressures there dropped enough for me to begin to wean off the IV medication I carry with me everywhere. I should be free of the IV pump and bag by the time you read this.
Next steps are to continue to gain strength and endurance, low fluid intake, low salt, etc. and learn to live life with a LVAD. The long-term plans are the same: After my other organs normalize their internal pressures (6-12 months), I hope to get listed by the heart transplant team and begin the wait for a new heart.
THANK YOU all for your prayers, encouragement, visits, calls, texts, gifts, and cards over the past months! You have been a HUGE blessing to me and to my family!!!

Tracy continues to hold our house together and to do many things I cannot. She also perseveres at Born 2 Be, making a difference in the lives of her riders with disabilities and their families.

Gideon & Reuben’s parents (Cody & Dakota) are doing very well. Cody works hard at Moore Supply taking care of the onsite location at DEK Plumbing while Dakota works Saturdays as a Physical Therapist at a local skilled nursing facility. The boys are now 5 and 3, and are growing incredibly fast! Together, they are a force to be reckoned with!

Trinity works full-time at Medical City Lewisville as a Registered Dietitian. We are so proud of her continuing to grow in “taking on life” as an adult, serving on the worship team at church, and being involved with small group, etc.!
Remington is continuing her Kinesiology studies at TWU, and plans to pursue Physical or Occupational Therapy in the future. She completed her season of coaching, and is pursuing a summer job in a PT clinic.
Sierra GRADUATED! After 25 years of being a parent at DCA, our last born finished high school last month! She plans to continue her studies at West Texas A&M in Civil/Environmental Engineering in the fall! Tracy, Sierra, and I traveled to Canyon, TX, for New Student/Family Orientation a few weeks ago. It seemed surreal! Our first time traveling with all my “gear” and it all worked out fine. SiJ drove the entire way to Canyon!
Sierra's graduation night!
Maw (Vival) has made significant gains in recovering physical health and mental clarity! Praise God! We sure do love her!

MINISTRY UPDATE
MULTIPICATION CONTINUES!
One of the most personally challenging quotes from Jesus comes just before He goes to the cross, where He says to the disciples, “…it is to your advantage that I go away…” (John 16:7) In His human body, Jesus could only be in one place at a time… with the promised Helper of the indwelling Holy Spirit, God’s power and presence can be everywhere in order to guide His disciples into all truth and empower them to fulfill the Great Commission. But STILL, I think I would be as confused as the disciples were, or even more so! “Jesus, I want You here with me!”
I am equally as confused with God preventing me from physically returning to Africa to continue the work of His calling on my life! I am not Jesus. I don’t get to send the Helper of the Holy Spirit to indwell those teams whom I have poured my life into. Jesus has already done that. But I yearn to be able to return and spend time with my brothers and friends, walking with them as they saturate their nation with the gospel through multiplication! YET — in my season of physical absence, the teams across Africa have continued to employ their training and expand God’s kingdom! It might even be better for me to “be away” at this time while they take increased ownership of the process. Though frustrated and confused, I am trusting God with His process for His people working in His harvest! Here are some of the stories of continued fruit from the past few months:
West Africa
West Africa continues to grow in taking personal ownership of the movement throughout Ghana and Burkina Faso! Both nations are multiplying disciples, leaders, and churches… and they are at various stages of multiplying a movement to other cities and villages as well! Our teams go to Strategic Cities/Locations — which are communities of relative population, influence, and church presence where our team has some connection and relationship. They then train, provide experience and tools, and coach those new leaders to expand further into the surrounding area until the region/province/nation is saturated.
Many of the villages where souls have been won to Christ and churches have been planted had NO GOSPEL REPRESENTATION. That means there are NO Christians in the village, NO church, NO pastor, NO Bible, NO means of access to the gospel… until those whom our teams have equipped visit and begin to share the good news!
BELOW, you can see a new group of Pastors and Leaders at a Leader Launch in Gumongo, Ghana. The photo on the right shows them “locking arms” together in the closing, showing unity and purpose of saturating their area with the gospel. There were 25 Pastors and church leaders trained who led 51 new believers to faith in their own community as part of the training!
BELOW LEFT, you can see a new local Journey Team continuing their training in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso. It is one of many Journey Teams who meet weekly to grow in pursuing Christ, leadership skills, and practical multiplication ministry to bring the gospel to and plant churches throughout their area. BELOW RIGHT, you can see a Leader Launch training held in Bama, Burkina Faso.
Sub-Saharan Africa
Our Sub-Saharan Strategic Impact Teams are also on the move! Training the congregations of many churches in how to share the gospel in a simple, clear, and meaningful way, then how to disciple new believers toward maturity, using the Bible as their main resource.
BELOW, you will see the congregation of “Christ For All Nations Church” in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, in the midst of evangelism training, along with a photo of Gospel Power House church in training. Both of these were Multiplying Discipler Launch trainings which focus on training the entire church on evangelism and discipleship. Following the each training session, they will practice among themselves, then go out into their community to experience sharing the gospel. This training, practice, and experience along with some simple tools empower them to make sharing the gospel a part of their everyday, normal life!
ALL of this (and so much more) took place while I have been incapacitated with heart issues. In fact, this year throughout Africa alone, there have been 8,683 souls won to Christ, 3,338 leaders equipped in an SI training event, 3,268 leaders launched into the Journey process, and 587 new churches planted!
This growth took place without my physical presence, but it could NOT happen without YOUR prayers and partnership! YOU are an essential member of the team in what God is doing! THANK YOU! God is using YOU to fulfill the Great Commission!!!
THANK YOU!!!
The ministry is Biblical. The vision is clear.
The need is great. The fruit is substantial.
None of this would be possible without YOUR partnership in prayer and giving.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
