Mkushi & Serenje, Zambia - Pastors, Leaders, and a Church Plant in the Bush- July 2017

This small group of dedicated Pastors and Leaders may not look like much, but the 11 of them influence several different congregations surrounding the town of Mkushi.   They have made many disciples (after being trained on the clarity and simplicity of the gospel), and have begun to reproduce leaders as well! Cell churches have been planted, too!  Some nearby, and some at a longer distance.  One Pastor rode his bicycle for over an hour to join us, then hopped in the van with us and led us out into the bush to visit a thriving church plant. It was a rough road, and I was longing for my Jeep - especially when we had to unload and walk across some hand-built wooden bridges across a small creek.  This Pastor  trained the new Pastor using the SI materials and discipleship, and now they also have 2 Elders in the church, who are also being trained by the new Pastor.  This is what SI is all about!  Training through relationship which leads to ongoing multiplication at every level - Leaders/Pastors, Disciples, Churches, and Movements! The elders of this church are 6 generations of multiplication from me (Dustin)!!!  We also had the opportunity to meet with some of the leaders and church members, hear testimonies, give a word of encouragement, and also see the mud-brick building they are constructing out there in the woods!  We then made our way back down the bumpy, rocky, double-track road to the pavement and on to Serenje for that evening's meetings with the next group.  At Serenje, we had 15 Pastors and Leaders from 13 different churches!  And each church has around 10 Leaders involved in SI.  The work has gone well in Serenje, and is beginning to grow again!  Once again, we heard the need of more materials in the primary local language of Bemba (common in this region of Zambia).  So, we are off to Luwingu, but we had a minor delay on the way...  >> NEXT >>
